Basic Kintyre Dalintober Hat Kit (medium)
A pattern by A Fyne Yarn which has been inspired by the Dalintober Gansey, an example of which is housed in Campbeltown Museum. Ganseys were fisherman's jumpers knit with 5 ply worsted spun wool in a tight gauge to keep the wind and rain out. This is a nod to that heritage and the rib throughout the brim and body of the hat means that the sizes will fit a wide range of head sizes. This medium hat would fit most older children and average adults
Our basic hat kit contains wool from Scots Mules (130g) which is a cross between a Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) sheep and a Scottish Blackface sheep and due to the natural process used to clean and process the wool at the natural fibre company, the wool still contains some lanolin which makes it so lovely to knit with. It is not quite as luxurious as our premium hat hit but it is a great lower cost alternative. This kit contains everything you need to complete this garment including circular needles in 4.5mm and 5mm, a cable needle, stitch markers, measuring tape, sheep needle gauge, a darning needle, a unique Kintyre tag and the pattern itself.
